This upper fan spacer (Part #R1984) sits between the upper fan stage and the motor shaft collar inside your Rainbow D3 and fits the Rainbow/Rexair D3. It sets the correct gap so the fan turns without touching the parts around it.
If the spacer goes missing or gets crushed, the fan loses its proper clearance and begins to rub against the neighboring stage or collar. That contact creates noise and pulls down suction as energy is lost to friction. A correctly sized replacement spacer restores the gap and lets the fan spin freely.
