This genuine OEM motor grommet (Part #1870006600) is the rubber isolator that cushions the motor against the housing on Royal uprights. It absorbs vibration between the motor and the surrounding shell, protecting both from the stress of constant running.
A worn, hardened, or missing grommet lets the motor vibrate directly against the housing, which raises noise and accelerates wear on the mounts and motor. This inexpensive part makes a clear difference in smooth, quiet operation.
