Part R14990K is the snap-together style coupling kit built for a Rexair Rainbow E-series hose, the version that clips together at the hose end rather than needing screws to hold the collar in place. It rebuilds the connection where the hose meets the machine port on a Rainbow E2.
This connection point tends to fail before anything else on the hose does. The cuff splits along its edge, or the snap coupling stops gripping tightly after years of twisting during normal canister use, and once either happens the machine starts pulling in outside air right at that connection rather than through the attachment head. The practical result is a noticeable drop in pickup, a hose end that wiggles loosely in the port, and occasionally a hose that pulls free entirely mid-clean.
Replacing just the coupling costs far less than buying a whole new hose, and on an E2 the hose body itself is typically still in good shape by the time the coupling fails. Before ordering, check which connector style your current hose actually uses. Rexair also offers a screw-on coupling kit for the same E-series hose, and the two hardware styles do not swap onto each other once removed.
Seat the new coupling evenly and fully around the hose end before locking it down, since a partial or crooked seat at this stage is the most common reason a fresh coupling starts leaking again within the first few uses.
