This carbon brush holder screw (Part #H309B) is a replacement screw that holds the carbon brush in its holder inside the Rainbow D3 motor assembly, and it also fits the D4. It keeps the brush seated against the commutator where it belongs.
If the screw loosens or falls out, the carbon brush shifts and can lose contact with the commutator, causing the motor to spark, run rough, or stop entirely. Keeping this screw tight holds the brush in steady contact so the motor runs smoothly.
