Kirby's Avalir 2 switches on and off underfoot, and part 110317 is the foot pedal that does it. It sits at the base of the upright in front of the switch mechanism, taking every press and every knock against a baseboard.
A pedal that has cracked or worn round its pivot stops moving the switch cleanly. The usual complaints are a vacuum that will not start until you press it several times, one that stays running when you step off, or a pedal that feels dead underfoot. Replacing it restores a positive click and predictable starting.
This is the Avalir 2 pedal specifically. Unplug the machine before you take the old one off, and check the model badge if you are not certain which Avalir you own.
