Product details
The belt lifter on a Kirby is the mechanism that raises and drops the drive belt when you switch from the carpet nozzle to the hose, and it is held by Torx screws. Part 232501S supplies ten of them. They are specified for the Ultimate G and SE and listed for the AVALIR, AVALIR 2, AVALIR PLATINUM, SENTRIA and Sentria II.
What you notice when one is missing is a lifter that no longer holds its position. The belt is slow to engage, or engages but leaves the brush roll turning weakly, or the lever feels vague where it used to click into place. A rounded-out head does the same while looking perfectly sound from the outside.
Use the matching Torx bit rather than a driver that almost fits, since that is how the heads get ruined in the first place. With the lifter exposed it is worth checking the drive belt for cracking before everything closes back up.
