Product details

Part R5590C is the brush roll assembly for the Rexair Rainbow D4C SE power nozzle, also listed for the E2, E3 and PN2 power nozzle heads. It replaces the roller as a complete unit rather than as a loose bristle strip.

A power nozzle depends on the roll turning freely and reaching evenly into the pile across the whole width of the head. Once the bristles wear down or the roll's bearings start to drag, the nozzle keeps making noise and pulling air but stops actually agitating the carpet, so pickup falls off even though nothing else about the machine has changed.

Wear on a driven roll follows the same pattern whatever turns it: bristle tufts flatten and shorten where they take the most contact, and hair wound at the shaft ends adds drag that outlasts a simple bristle trim. Judging the roll by how freely it spins once it has been cleared, rather than by bristle appearance alone, is the more reliable test, because a roll can still look presentable long after it has stopped reaching into pile.

Hair and thread wrapped around the shaft produce the same symptom while the roll underneath is still good, so clear it before assuming the roll itself is finished. Spin it by hand once removed; if it drags or catches, the roll and its bearings are due for replacement together.

  • Part: R5590C, brush roll assembly
  • Fits: Rexair Rainbow D4C SE, E2, E3, PN2 power nozzle
  • Type: complete roll assembly, not a bristle strip alone
  • Before ordering: confirm the model marked on your power nozzle, and compare the roll you are removing against the replacement for length and end fittings
