Rainbow Brushroll Bearing B...

Product details
The Rexair-Rainbow D4SE and E series power nozzle uses a brushroll bearing boot, part R5592, to keep hair, lint and grit out of the bearing while the roll spins.
Once a boot splits, hardens or goes missing, the bearing underneath is exposed to whatever the brush roll picks up. That usually shows up first as a rougher, noisier spin, and a bearing running dirty wears out well ahead of schedule. Replacing the boot when it is worn is cheaper than replacing the bearing it protects.
A boot like this one hardens with age even on a nozzle that has not seen heavy use, so a machine pulled out of storage after a long gap is worth checking here even if the brush roll still spins freely by hand. A boot that has gone stiff will often crack the first time the roll is worked free for service, which is a sign it needed replacing before that point.
