Product details

This is the 120-volt power nozzle motor for Rexair-Rainbow power nozzles, sold as part R8401. It is listed for the PN-2 and PN-2E power nozzle housings used on the E, E2 and D4C SE lines.

A power nozzle motor that has failed shows up as a brush roll that will not turn even though the vacuum still pulls suction normally, a motor that hums without spinning, or a burning smell after a short run. Since a jammed or badly worn belt and brush roll can produce similar symptoms, rule those out first before ordering the motor.

A power nozzle that draws power with the brush roll turning only when spun by hand usually means the motor's internal drive has failed even though the windings still pull current. That distinguishes a motor problem from a stuck brush roll bearing, which resists turning by hand as well and points elsewhere.

Confirm which power nozzle housing your machine uses, PN-2 or PN-2E, before ordering, and compare the motor coming out against the replacement before fitting it. A nozzle that has already been through a repair does not always still carry the motor it originally shipped with, so the part in your hand is better evidence than the model on the label.

  • Part: R8401, 120V power nozzle motor.
  • Fits: PN-2 and PN-2E power nozzle housings on the E, E2, and D4C SE.
  • Symptom: brush roll will not turn, motor hums without spinning, or burning smell after a short run.
  • Diagnosis: a brush roll that turns freely by hand but not under power points to the motor, not a stuck bearing.
