Oreck's XL and U series uprights carry their fan on the motor shaft, and part 09-75300-01 is the replacement. It is the component that generates the airflow the whole machine depends on, so its condition shows up directly in how much the vacuum picks up.
Fans fail by impact rather than by wear. Something hard goes up the nozzle, a blade chips, and the assembly is now spinning out of balance a few thousand times a minute. You hear it as a new rattle or a change in pitch, and you feel it as vibration through the handle. Suction drops off whether or not anything is blocked.
This one fits across the U-series range, including the RU2240HHS, U2000E, U2000EB, U2000HH, U2160HH, U2250RS, U2510RH, U2640RH, U2650HHB, U2740RD, U3120HH, U3620HH, U3700HH and U3720HG. Unplug the machine before opening the fan housing.
