This is the power switch assembly Kirby uses across its Generation 3 through Avalir 2 uprights, sold as part 110523, with confirmed fitment on the Avalir and Avalir 2. It is the complete switch unit that the foot pedal acts on, not just the pedal cap.
Switch failure has a distinctive set of symptoms: the vacuum will not start no matter how hard you press, it cuts out when the handle is moved, or it keeps running after you step off the pedal. Any of those means the contacts inside have burned or the mechanism has worn past use.
Because it is a mains-carrying part, unplug the machine and leave the wiring to a confident DIYer or a service technician. Check the number on the assembly you are removing against 110523 before ordering.
