Complete nozzle assembly for the Kirby Avalir, part 390021, supplied with the attached shampooer tray and a hard floor brush. It is the front cleaning head: the housing that carries the brush roll, the belt and the bottom plate and holds all of them in alignment.
A nozzle that has cracked or warped, usually from a fall or from years of being levered against furniture, throws that alignment out. The head stops riding flat, so one side of the brush presses into the carpet harder than the other, air leaks at the split, and the machine gets noisier and less effective at the same setting.
Replacing the whole assembly rather than patching a housing gives the brush roll a true foundation again. Transfer and inspect the brush roll and belt as you fit it, since both will have been working out of line for a while.
