Product details
A deck that keeps dropping to a lower setting on its own, without anyone touching the dial, is the clearest sign that the height adjustment knob on a Eureka or Sanitaire commercial upright is worn out. Part 380532 is that knob, offering six click-stop positions to set how far the nozzle rides above the floor.
Turning the knob raises or lowers the deck in six steps so the brush roll sits correctly on carpet pile of different depths, or clears the bristles up off bare floor entirely. Wear happens at the detent teeth, the small ridges that click into each of the six positions and hold the setting steady under the vibration of a running motor. Once those teeth round off, the knob spins loosely instead of clicking into place, and it can no longer hold the tallest carpet setting at all.

- Function: selects nozzle height so the brush roll agitates carpet correctly without dragging or losing contact
Getting the height right matters beyond comfort: a deck set too low drags and wears the brush roll and belt faster than they should wear, while one set too high leaves the brush barely skimming the carpet without agitating it at all, so a customer complaining that the machine no longer cleans as well as it used to is sometimes fixed by nothing more than this one part.
