This black bag assembly, part 5397734, fits Eureka and Sanitaire upright models 1950A, S635A and S645A, along with the SL635A and SL635B. It uses Style F&G paper bags inside a cloth outer shell, so day to day upkeep means swapping the paper bag rather than replacing the whole assembly.
The outer housing is what keeps the paper bag sealed against the machine's airflow path, and it is worth checking whenever suction drops even after a fresh inner bag goes in. A shell that no longer seats squarely on its mount, or that has torn at a seam, lets air bypass the bag entirely, and no amount of fresh paper fixes that, since the leak is happening around the bag rather than through it.
Confirm your model number against the list here before ordering, since Eureka and Sanitaire reused similar-looking bag housings across several different upright families that are not interchangeable with each other despite looking alike at a glance.
Inspect the mounting points on the shell whenever you change the inner bag, since a shell that is starting to fail usually shows a loose or worn mount well before the fabric itself gives out.
