These 4.5 inch brush inserts, part B013-1000, are the bristle strips for the Riccar RSL5 and Clean Max ULW, and for the Riccar R10P, Riccar R10S, Simplicity R10P and Simplicity R10S. A single insert slots into its own channel along the brush roll, so a worn strip of bristles can be swapped out without buying a whole new roller.
Insert bristles wear down and bend out of shape with use, and once they can no longer grip carpet pile the roller stops agitating dirt loose even though it is still spinning. Replacing just the inserts restores that bite for a fraction of the cost of a complete brush roll, and it is worth checking all the inserts on the roller at once, since they tend to wear at close to the same rate.

- Function: replaceable bristle strips for the brush roll channel

Press each insert into its channel until it seats flush with the roller body before putting the nozzle back into service.
