The genuine OEM Kirby shampoo tank (Part #306717) is built for the Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum carpet shampoo system. The tank holds the cleaning solution and feeds it to the foam generator during a shampoo pass.
Tanks crack at the seams, warp, or lose their seal over years of filling and draining, which lets solution leak out and starves the system of the steady flow it needs to lift dirt. Installing a sound tank restores consistent solution delivery and ends the drips that soak carpet and the machine base.
