The switch holder is the moulded cradle that positions the power switch inside the handle of a Hoover upright, and part 93001703 replaces it. It covers a long run of machines: the U5180900 and U5180910, U5182900, U5183900, U5185900, U5194900, U5198900 and U5199900, the U5780900 and U5781900, and the UH70005B, UH70035B, UH70040, UH70060, UH70070, UH70085 and UH70086.
When the holder cracks, the switch is no longer held square. It rocks in its opening, the actuator misses, and you find yourself pressing twice or holding the switch at an angle to get the machine running. Left alone, the loose switch drags on its own wiring until a terminal lets go.
Note how the wires are routed before you lift the old holder out, and set the new one back the same way.
