The Fuller Brush FB-SM lightweight upright carries its headlight behind a clear lens at the front of the nozzle, and this is the replacement, part B018-0515. The same lens fits the Maytag M700.
It is a small part that does two jobs: it keeps dust and debris out of the bulb housing, and it directs the light down onto the floor a step ahead of you. Cracks come from the machine meeting furniture legs and door frames; the yellowing comes from the bulb itself over a few years. Either way the light goes soft and scattered, and the dark strip along the baseboards that the headlight is there to show you disappears.
Fit a clear lens and the beam sharpens up again. Wipe the inside face before it goes on, as a film of fine dust dims a new lens surprisingly quickly.
