Eureka/Sanitaire Nozzle Bumper - S635A, SL635A Upright

Part 3634221 is the nozzle bumper built for the Sanitaire S635 upright, a trim strip wrapping the leading edge and corners of the cleaning head, positioned to absorb the shock whenever the machine bumps a baseboard, a chair leg or a doorframe.

By design this strip is meant to wear out first. Its whole job is soaking up impacts so the rigid nozzle shell underneath never has to take them directly. Once it comes loose, splits, or thins out at a corner, those knocks start landing on hard plastic instead, and the part stops doing anything to spare furniture or trim from contact with the machine.

This part fits the S635A on both the Eureka and Sanitaire badges, plus the SL635A. A closely related unit, the SL635B, uses a completely different bumper, part 3699935, so read the exact suffix off the data plate on the machine before ordering rather than assuming by look alone.

A bumper that has only begun pulling away at one end rather than tearing off entirely can sometimes be reseated and taped as a stopgap, but that is not a real fix, since a strip left loose flaps under vibration and typically finishes tearing free within a short run of further use.
