Product details
Part 618654 replaces the hose on Sanitaire and Eureka SC5745 and SC5845 commercial uprights, the flexible section linking the machine's base to the point where the wand plugs in for above-floor work.
Commercial duty cycles are unkind to this hose. Being stepped on, snagged around door frames, or stretched to catch one last spot under a desk eventually opens a split, and that split usually announces itself as a faint hiss before suction at the wand drops off while the floor head keeps performing normally. Most of these splits form inside a cuff rather than out in the open, so a visual check will miss what a careful listen will not.
Swap the hose out as soon as that hiss appears rather than waiting for the wand to go dead, since a slow leak means the motor is spending effort on air that never reaches the carpet. A machine that suddenly seems to labor harder for the same result, without a change in the sound of the motor itself, is usually fighting a leak somewhere between the base and the wand. Once the new hose is in, run a hand along its length while the machine is on to confirm there are no fresh leaks introduced during installation, particularly at the two cuffs.
This hose is specified for the C5712A, C5712A1, SC5713B, SC5713D, SC5745B, SC5815E, SC5845B and SC5845D, listed under both the Eureka and Sanitaire names.
