This lower hose, part 72001A, is the hose section that links the base assembly to the upper body on the Eureka and Sanitaire LiteSpeed 5841BV upright, and on the related Eureka/Sanitaire C5712A, C5712A1, SC5713B, SC5713D, SC5745B, SC5815E, SC5845B and SC5845D.
A hose in this position gets flexed every time the machine is moved, so it is prone to cracking or splitting well before other parts show wear. A leak here costs suction at the floor head even though the motor and belt are unaffected, and because the hose sits low and out of easy view, the leak often gets missed on a quick visual check.
