SEBO Handle Catch C Clip (4, DIN 6799) for AUTOMATIC X4, X5, X7, X8 and 370 Series — Single

When the handle release stops holding, the culprit is often the smallest item in the joint. Part 0161 is the C clip that retains the handle catch pin, specified as 4 to DIN 6799 and sold singly. SEBO shows it at position 33 on the sheet titled AUTOMATIC X4 X5.

DIN 6799 covers the open, horseshoe-shaped retaining washer that snaps sideways into a machined groove on a shaft rather than being threaded over the end of it, which is what lets it be fitted in a confined space with nothing more than a small screwdriver. The size number refers to the groove it grips. That side-entry design is also why the clip occasionally springs off on its own: repeated locking and reclining of the handle works it outward until it lets go, the pin walks free, and the catch loses its grip on the handle tube.

The complaint is always the same — a handle that will not lock upright, will not stay reclined, or has gone sloppy at the pivot — and a new clip restores a positive latch in a couple of minutes. Anyone in the catch already should look at the pin as well, since a clip that has been loose for a while tends to let the pin wear. A clip is a fraction of the cost of the disassembly, so it goes back new whether or not the old one looks serviceable.
