Sitting at the motor intake of the ProTeam ProGen 12 and ProGen 15 uprights, part 834721 is the last filter the air passes through before it reaches the motor. Anything that gets past the bag and the intermediate filtration ends up here instead of in the bearings.
It is a cheap part protecting an expensive one, and it is the filter most often forgotten because it is not the one you handle when changing bags. Left long enough it greys over, then blocks, and the machine loses suction across the whole nozzle even with a fresh bag fitted. A ProGen that runs hot, or noticeably louder than its partner machine on the same crew, is worth opening for a look at this filter.
Check it whenever you change bags, and replace rather than trying to beat it clean. Once the media is loaded it does not recover.
