Part 119789S is the fan case housing for the Kirby Generation 3 and Generation 4. It is the chamber the fan spins inside, and it has to be sealed and true for the machine to pull properly, because every bit of air the vacuum moves passes through it.
Cases crack, usually after a fan has failed and thrown a piece, or from a hard knock. A cracked case leaks air, so suction falls even though the motor and the fan are sound, and a warped or worn case lets the fan run out of true.
If you are replacing a broken fan, inspect the case at the same time, since debris that destroyed one has often marked the other. Confirm your Kirby is a Generation 3 or 4 before ordering.
