This genuine OEM Kenmore grooved belt (Part #KC28SEDCZ000, ribbed profile 5PH237) fits the Kenmore 31230, DU2012 RPL, DU3017, and DU3018. The ribbed belt transfers power from the motor to the brush roll to keep the brush turning for carpet agitation.
A worn or broken belt is the most common reason a brush roll stops spinning, and a stretched belt slows agitation and leaves debris behind. A burning rubber smell is a clear sign it needs immediate replacement. A fresh belt restores full brush speed.
