The round HEPA cartridge filter that drops into the dirt cup of Hoover's twin-chamber bagless uprights, part 40140201, sold two to a pack. It covers a long run of machines, including the U5260 to U5298 series, the U5720 to U5786 series, the C1660 and C1710, and the U6607, and it also carries the number 43611042.
In a bagless upright this cartridge is doing the job a bag would otherwise do, which is why it loads faster than people expect. Suction that fades within a few minutes of starting, or a machine that puffs fine dust from the exhaust, is usually this filter rather than anything mechanical.
Two per pack, so the replacement you will want in a few months is already in the cupboard rather than on order while the vacuum sits unused.
