Part 1603437 is the pre-motor filter from the Bissell PowerGlide Lift-Off Pet Plus 2043 uprights, the stage that sits between the dirt cup and the motor and catches whatever the cyclone does not.
Pre-motor filters are the ones people forget, because they hide behind the bin rather than inside it. What you notice is a machine that has slowly lost its edge: less pull at the head, a motor working audibly harder, warm exhaust. A choked pre-motor filter is also the quickest way to shorten a motor's life, which makes this the cheapest maintenance on the machine.
It fits the Bissell 2043 series including the 20431, 20432, 20434, 20435, 2043C and 2043W, plus the 2281, 2461, 2475, 2709, 2790 and 2817. Empty the machine before you swap it and knock the loose dust out of the housing before the new filter goes in.
