Part 5402 is the long wire tie, and it turns up on more SEBO parts drawings than almost anything else in the catalogue. The sheets show it at item 144 for the AUTOMATIC X7 and X8, at item 137 for FELIX and for the ET-1 and ET-2 power heads, and at item 134 for DART.
Its work is to draw the internal loom into a bundle and anchor that bundle somewhere nothing can reach it: clear of the roll, clear of the fan, clear of the drive. On the power head sheets it is catalogued beside the motor pulley and the switch assembly, which says plainly enough that the wiring it restrains runs through the busiest and least forgiving part of the machine. Wherever a lead might otherwise drift into something that spins or something that gets warm, a tie of this kind is what stops it happening.
The practical point is that these are consumable. They get cut through to free a lead during a repair, and a machine reassembled without fresh ones leaves its wiring loose for the rest of its working life. Length counts as well, since a bundle held slackly is barely held at all. Where the diagram calls for a shorter run, the number to order is 5401 instead.
