Motor noise that has crept up over the years often has nothing to do with the motor. SEBO 5100 is the rubber mounting that suspends the suction unit inside the body of the machine, holding it clear of the shell so vibration is absorbed in rubber rather than transmitted into the housing and up the handle.
Rubber hardens with heat and age, and the inside of a vacuum body is a warm place. A mounting that has gone stiff, flattened, or torn at its waist lets the motor settle against structure it was never meant to touch. The machine gets louder in the hand, a buzz or drone appears at running speed, and cyclic stress goes into the mounting points and fixings around it instead of being damped out. SEBO lists this component at position 111 on the AUTOMATIC X7/X8 diagram, where it is noted against the DOMEL motor, and at position 148 on the ESSENTIAL G4/G5 diagram.
