SEBO Plunger Button Return Spring for the Duo

When the plunger button on a Duo stops popping back after a press, the small return spring behind it has usually lost its set. Part 2423 is that spring, and SEBO draws it as position 45 in the Duo parts diagram, sitting directly beneath the plunger button itself.

The spring does one job and does it thousands of times: it pushes the button back out of the housing after each press so the control is ready for the next one. Steel loses temper slowly under repeated compression, and the failure is gradual rather than sudden. First the button feels lazy on the return, then it starts to hang halfway, then it stays down altogether and the control reads as dead even though the button itself is intact. Grit in the bore accelerates the same story, so it is worth cleaning the recess while the parts are out.

A spring costs almost nothing and takes minutes to change, so it is the sensible first move before condemning the button. Fit the new spring, refit the button, and the control should return sharply under thumb pressure with no sticking at the top of the stroke.
