SEBO Screw STS 4 x 20 (T20 Torx) for FELIX, E Series, DART and 370 COMFORT

Four millimetres across and twenty long, this is the deeper of the two T20 body screws, used where a fastener passes through a thick section before it finds its boss. SEBO specifies it for the FELIX and E series, the DART and the 370 COMFORT, and supplies it individually as part 1017. The six-lobe T20 recess is the same one used across the rest of the modern SEBO range, so a single bit covers the whole strip-down.

Substituting the 16 mm version is a common shortcut and a poor one. The shorter screw engages only the top few threads, then works loose under vibration and brings the plastic with it when it finally pulls out. What starts as one loose fastener ends as a torn boss and a housing that will no longer hold anything at that point. Part 1017 puts the correct length back into the joint.

Replace one when the recess has rounded, when the screw no longer holds torque, or when a strip-down has left you one short. Drive it home firmly but stop the moment the head seats, since over-torquing into plastic is exactly what creates the next stripped hole and the next set of loose panels around it.

Keep the screws from a machine laid out in the order they were removed. Lengths are mixed within a single casing on these models, and the T20 head gives no clue as to which hole a screw came from once it has left it. Two minutes of order at the start of a job saves a good deal of trial and error at the end of one.
