Ametek Lamb built this 8.4-inch dual-stage bypass motor for central vacuum duty, and it is the replacement fitted to the Cana-Vac 911-XLS, the XLS970 and the 911-ECP Ecopure. It is sold as part 122175-00.
Bypass construction keeps the cooling air separate from the dirty airstream, which is why these motors last in central units where a thru-flow motor would not. This one is a tangential-discharge, single-speed design in an aluminum housing: 120 volts, 60 Hz, 13.8 amps, 142 CFM at a 2-inch orifice and 700 maximum air watts, on ball bearings, with a rated average life of 1500 hours in intermittent duty. Overall height is 7 inches.
Fading suction at every inlet, a new rumble or whine, or a burning smell from the canister all point at the motor. Central vacuum motors are mains-wired, so leave the swap to a technician if you are not confident.
