This replacement commutator housing and bearing bracket fits all Ametek Lamb 5.7 inch sleeve bearing motors in the 717 series and replaces part 05-8835-04. It caps the commutator end of the motor and supports proper bearing alignment.
A cracked or broken housing exposes the motor internals to dust and debris and can let the bearing sit out of alignment. Running the motor that way accelerates wear at the commutator. A sound housing shields the motor and keeps the bearing true.
