This is the gray bag top cover for the Kirby Heritage I, sold under part number 191881. It sits at the top of the outer bag and clamps it closed.
Heritage machines are old enough now that the plastic has had decades to go brittle. The usual sequence is a hairline crack at one of the latch ears, then a piece breaks away, then the bag hangs open at the top and dust drifts out every time the machine is switched on. A cover that no longer clamps also lets the bag slip and choke the airflow.
A fresh cover in the correct gray keeps a Heritage I looking original and puts the seal back where it belongs. Check the latch while you are there, since a worn hook will crack the new cover the same way it did the old one.
