The fan case assembly, part 119797S, covers a long run of Kirby machines: the Generation 5 and Generation 6, Ultimate G, Diamond Edition, Sentria and Sentria II, and the Avalir, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum. It houses the fan and channels air from the nozzle through to the bag.
Because the case is a sealed chamber, any crack in it is a direct loss of suction. The machine sounds unchanged, the fan may be perfect, and yet the nozzle no longer lifts. Cases are most often damaged by fan failure, since a broken blade at speed does real damage on its way out.
Buying it as an assembly saves sourcing the case and its fittings separately. Check the case in your machine against the part number before ordering, as Kirby's fan cases changed across the generations.
