This replacement safety switch slide spring (Part #1353S) keeps the safety switch working on the Kirby 505. The safety switch stops the vacuum from running when the bag or cover is removed.
Should the spring break, the switch can jam in the off position, making the vacuum seem completely dead even when the motor is perfectly fine. Installing a fresh spring frees the switch so it moves as designed and the machine powers up normally. This small spring is often the real cause behind a 505 that will not start.
