This genuine OEM Kenmore housing latch (Part #KC15KEEJZMUQ, also supplied as assembly #591012138) fits models 81614, BC4026, and BC4027. The latch locks two housing sections together so the body stays closed and sealed during operation.
A housing latch that has cracked or lost its catch lets the body panels loosen and drift apart, opening air leaks along the seam and leaving internal parts exposed. Fitting the correct OEM latch draws the housing back into a tight, sealed joint.
