The release pedal is the orange foot pedal that unlocks the handle on Hoover HushTone commercial uprights so the machine can be reclined. Hoover supplies it as part 440007797.
It is operated with a shoe, hundreds of times a day in commercial use, and it fails in one of two ways: the pedal snaps at the pivot, or it stops holding, so the handle drops out of the upright position on its own. A handle that will not lock upright is a machine that cannot be parked or wheeled between rooms, and an operator stops using it very quickly.
The pedal fits the Hoover CH54013, CH54015, CH54113, CH54115, CH95413 and CH95415. It is a mechanical part with no wiring, so the swap is straightforward once the nozzle end is accessible.
