Hoover Handle Release Lever...

Product details
Press the release lever and the handle of a Hoover upright unlocks so it can recline; let go and it locks again wherever you left it. Part 047611 is the lever that does it, for the Hoover 91 and 913.
These levers spend their whole life being stood on. The pivot wears, the return action goes soft, and eventually the lever either sticks down, leaving the handle flopping loose, or refuses to release at all, so the machine cannot be laid back far enough to reach under a bed or a sofa.
A new lever brings back the definite click that tells you the handle has locked. It fits into the handle joint with basic hand tools and follows the original assembly order, so nothing needs modifying. On machines of this age it is worth looking at the pivot pin and the surrounding plastic while everything is apart.
