Clearing hair and thread from a brush roll starts at the release catch, and on the SEBO ESSENTIAL G2 and ESSENTIAL G5 that catch is part 2843GS. It is the piece that frees the roller so it can be lifted straight out of the head, then holds the roller seated and square once the cleaned one goes back down.
SEBO's parts drawing for these heads lists the release at position 115, finished in gray black to match the power head. Because it is operated by hand and takes the full load of the roller when the head is tipped, it is one of the first parts on the head to fail. A cracked catch either fights you at every brush cleaning — needing two hands and a screwdriver where one thumb used to do it — or, worse, lets the roller shift while the machine is running. That puts uneven load on the bearing ends, chews the belt line, and shortens the life of the roller itself.
Replacement is a quick job with the head on its back and no need to disturb the belt. It pays to renew the catch at a brush change rather than on its own: the 15 inch brush roller for these two machines is 2838AM, with a soft-bristle version stocked as 2838GE, and brush roller cleaning tool 8366WS makes short work of the wrapped hair that caused the trouble in the first place.
