On Bissell's lift-off uprights the wand is held by a spring-loaded latch, and this is the replacement latch and spring, part 1629953. It fits the PowerLifter Pet Lift-Off 2920 and a long list of siblings: the MultiClean Allergen Pet 2849, 28492, 2999, 3000 and 3057, the MultiClean Allergen Lift-Off Pet 2852, 2998 and 3059, and the PowerClean Allergen Lift-Off Pet 3399.
The spring is what makes the latch feel positive. When it weakens or snaps, the wand either refuses to lock and pops loose mid-clean, or grips and will not let go when you want it. Both symptoms come back to the same small part.
Note which way round the spring sits before you take the old one out; it only loads correctly in one orientation.
