This replacement upper motor bearing fits the Ametek Lamb three-stage motor 117500 and 117507. The bearing supports the top of the armature shaft, letting it spin true at high speed inside the motor housing.
A dry or worn upper bearing is a common cause of a loud, grinding, or rumbling motor, and left alone it lets the shaft wander until the motor fails outright. Pressing in a fresh bearing quiets the motor and protects the armature and fan stack from further damage.
