Ametek's box-type carbon brush assembly replaces the older split-carbon brush used on earlier 7.2-inch Lamb motors, and this OEM part, 33415-4, is the current design fitted to that mounting style. The brush sits in a boxed holder rather than a split sleeve, so a motor that still carries the older split-carbon brush takes this boxed part as its replacement rather than a like-for-like copy of what came out.
Worn brushes announce themselves through the motor housing before the motor itself gives out: sparking flashes visible at the vents, suction that drops off and then recovers, a scratchy hum layered under the normal motor sound, and eventually a hot, burnt smell as the brush face runs down toward the spring. Replace both brushes as a pair.
This assembly is confirmed for a wide range of Ametek Lamb 7.2-inch motors: 115330, 115334, 115519, 115648, 115837, 115862, 115937, 115937-Z, 115948, 115948-B, 115950, 115962, 115963, 116103, 116117-11, 116118, 116119, 116136, 116137, 116138, 116139, 116141, 116154, 116154-11, 116161, 116262, 116262-01, 116264, and 116954-13.
