This replacement white pre-filter fits the Austin Air HealthMate air purifier. It serves as the first filtration stage, trapping larger dust and lint before air reaches the carbon and HEPA media deeper in the unit.
Because it catches the coarsest debris, the pre-filter saturates faster than the stages behind it, and a clogged one restricts airflow and pushes particles onto the main filter. Air delivery falls and the expensive media wears out sooner. Fitting a fresh pre-filter restores airflow and protects the filters downstream.
