Wessel Werk builds this rug tool 11-1/4 inches across, on wheels, with a rubber bumper running its edge and a 1-1/4 inch fitting at the neck. It is stocked here as part 13.9241-316. The wheels let it roll smoothly across an area rug or hard floor while the rubber bumper protects furniture legs and baseboards from scuffs when the tool brushes past them.
The bumper takes the brunt of daily contact, and once it has hardened, cracked or worn thin, it stops cushioning contact the way it should, so the tool starts leaving marks on furniture and trim it used to glide past cleanly. The wheels wear on a separate timeline, seizing or flattening on one side after years of rolling, which shows up as the tool dragging slightly or pulling to one side instead of tracking straight. A flat spot on one wheel is often easier to feel through the wand than to see by eye, since the tool will thump softly with each rotation.
