This wall adapter and hose end is a replacement fitting for crushproof central vacuum hose, joining the hose to the wall inlet at one end and the handle or tool at the other. It is the coupling that makes the connection between your hose and the system airtight.
When a hose end cracks or the adapter wears loose, air leaks at the joint and suction bleeds off before it ever reaches the nozzle. A fresh fitting seals the connection again and restores full airflow through the hose.
