The Titan central vacuum foam insert, part 8523, is the replacement foam filter for Titan TCS-5525 and TCS-8575 central vacuum power units. It catches fine debris that gets past the primary filter or bag, protecting the motor from the dust that would otherwise shorten its life. Foam compresses and clogs with use, and once airflow through it drops, the motor works harder and runs hotter than it should.
Swapping in a fresh insert is a quick job that keeps air moving freely through the power unit, which is cheap insurance on the most expensive component in a whole-home central vacuum system. It is worth checking whenever you empty the unit.
