For 6210 Series machines, this replacement Panasonic stop latch spring (part #AMC70N-V30) tensions the bottom plate stop latch, holding the plate secured and releasing it when you unlatch for service.
A stretched or broken spring leaves the latch without tension, so the bottom plate can loosen, rattle, or pop open, breaking the suction seal underneath. A weak latch also makes the plate awkward to secure. A fresh spring restores firm latch tension so the plate stays locked.
