The Quick Kleen base assembly is a replacement nozzle housing for the Sanitaire SC887 commercial upright vacuum. The base does several jobs at once on this machine: it protects internal components, maintains the sealed airflow path, and supports the brush roll so it can agitate carpet effectively. When the base cracks, suction drops at the floor and sensitive parts are left exposed to damage.
Commercial uprights in the 887 series see hard daily use, and the base takes the brunt of it, so a worn base assembly is a normal wear item rather than a sign of anything wrong with the machine.
