This replacement Royal lead cord for the 1030 Metal Upright is the internal wiring harness that connects the on/off switch to the motor, and it also fits model 1018Z. It carries power through the body of the machine once the main cord delivers it to the switch.
Insulation on an internal lead cord can fray, crack, or loosen at the terminals over years of flexing, which leads to intermittent power or a machine that will not run at all. Installing an intact lead cord restores a solid, safe electrical path from switch to motor.
